Richard "Deuce" Keel Powell

Richard Keel “Deuce” Powell, 69, of Fayetteville, passed away at his residence on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

Richard was born June 10, 1955, in Fayetteville, to Jasper “Jack” Powell and Mable Peterson Powell.  He was a graduate of South View High School but was a Massey Hill Pirate through and through.  He was employed with Boatwright Distribution and Supply Inc. and had been in the insulation business for many years.  He loved classic cars and going to car shows and cruising in his red 1966 Chevy II.

He is predeceased by his parents; his son, Kevin; brother, David Powell; and brothers-in-law, Tony Smith and Scotty Biggs.

Richard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Adcox Powell; brothers, Terry Powell (Brenda Guthrie) and John Powell (Deborah); sisters, Donna Powell Smith and June Powell Biggs; numerous nieces and nephews; fur baby, Bella Marie; and a host of friends and loved ones.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 12 noon to 12:45 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm in the Jernigan-Warren Chapel.  Burial will follow at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery on Gillespie St.
