Robert William Stephens

Robert W. Stephens, 92, of Fayetteville passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024, at his residence.

Robert was born on October 1, 1932, in Cumberland County, to the late Willie M. Stephens and Mary Hare Stephens.

In 1971 he retired from the U.S. Air Force where he served over 20 years.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War in 1965-1966.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Lena Carter Stephens; sisters, Frances Powell and Peggy Royal.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Wayne Black and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Jimmy Black and wife, Karen, and Wendy Black; great grandchildren, Kelsey Dietzman and husband Andrew, and William Peavey; cousins, Sue Green, Lynda Prince and Lynwood Hare.

The family will receive friends from 11- 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel with burial following at Lafayette Memorial Park with Military Honors.
