Rosa Estrella Ludewig, 64, of Fayetteville, passed away on August 9, 2020.
She was born in Manta, Ecuador on February 10, 1956 and grew up in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY.
Rosa is survived by her husband, Gary Ludewig, Sr., and her beloved children. Daughters, Shirley Rodriguez and husband, Marcos; Nuvia Cummins; Angelica Foster and husband, Shane; sons, Gary Ludewig, Jr., Jonathan Ludewig and wife, Erica; grandchildren, Christian, Jesenia, Marcos Jr., Gabriel, Caleb, Corrinne, Alexis, Autumn, Katelyn, Layla, Abigail, Brianna, Ethan, Benjamin, D’angelo, and Gabriella.
One can sum up Rosita's life with one word- “Giving”. Her life was a living example of Matthew 22:39, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” With her charm and charisma, she instantly captivated all those she met. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister and most proud of all, a grandmother, who poured out her love by embracing every single moment with her grandkids.
Her smile and tenderness made you feel safe and loved and her cooking and attention to hospitality made you feel like a welcomed part of the family. She was full of life with a vivacious personality and was always the life of a party, as she could dance cumbia like no other.
What we will all remember most is how she made us laugh with her antics and poetic quotes, which at times were either lost in translation or a concoction of her own ideas. Rosa made friends everywhere she went and her sense of adventure took to many corners of the world, making everlasting memories with her family.
Her passion to help others in need took her to volunteer at Hoke County’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center where she daily went above and beyond her regular duties to ensure victims were properly taken care of. Her dedication and willingness to go above and beyond landed her a coveted position with Fort Bragg’s United States Army Reserve Command as their Sexual Assault coordinator. Rosa’s sense of empathy and care transformed many broken lives and victims into survivors.
