Sarah (Lois) Delories Clark Yarn of Fayetteville, passed away Monday morning, October 21, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.
Lois was born on September 1, 1940, in Raeford, NC to Dan N. Clark and Sallie Rose Clark. She was the baby of the family and was raised on a farm, learning the value of hard work, resourcefulness and ingenuity that have become legendary to her family and those that knew her. She literally could fix anything. There was no problem too big for her to handle.
As a teenager she met, fell in love with, and married the love of her life, Clifton “Skip” Montgomery Yarn on March 16,1957, who preceded her in death by several months. Anyone who knew them, also knew that they would not last long without the other.
Lois was a Christian in every sense of the word and spent her life serving and sacrificing for loved ones and others. She literally wore herself out, caring for others, including and most especially, “the least of these.” As one granddaughter put it; “Generations of strong, sometimes hard-headed, women started with (her). She was an example of fierce independence, strength, and never-ending love, and (we were) lucky (to call her ours)”.
She worked at Burlington Industries in Raeford for 33 years until retiring in September 2002.
Lois is survived by six children, Cheri Wilcox of Arizona; Gary and Raye Yarn of Utah; Georgia Victoria Cherney of Fayetteville; Skip and Janet Yarn of Maryland; Catherine and Steve Larsen of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and David and Karina Yarn of Maryland; 27 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and a great, great grandson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dan N. and Sallie Rose Clark; her sisters, Doris Gibson, Muriel Short and an infant sister (unnamed); her brothers, Daniel Herbert Clark and Gaston M Clark; granddaughter, Rebecca Yarn; and great grandson, Ezra Yarn.
