Sarah Lou Cain (Owen) Cashwell

Sarah Lou Owen (Cain) Cashwell, 86, of Fayetteville, NC, joined her heavenly father on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

She was born in Fayetteville to the late William E. and S. Catherine Owen and was married to Donald H. Cain until his death in 2002.

Sarah Lou was a graduate of Stedman High School and was a founding member of the North Carolina Basketmakers Association.  In addition, she wove cane chairs for numerous furniture restorers in the Fayetteville area and worked as a greeter at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.  She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Vander, N.C.

Sarah Lou is survived by her husband, Bernard Cashwell of Fayetteville; son, Donald H. Cain, Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC; daughter, Julia C. Holt and husband, Henry Walter Holt, Jr. of Fayetteville; stepdaughters, Lori Cashwell McKinney and husband, Richard of Charlotte, Lisa Cashwell White and husband, Brent; granddaughters Lilly Catherine Holt of Wilmington and Sarah Riley Holt of Fayetteville; and several step grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Vander, NC on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will be held at Lafayette Memorial Park and Mausoleum, also on a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sarah Lou's memory to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3934 Sunnyside School Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28312
