Shawn Michael Simmons, 51, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
Born on June 11, 1974, in Oklahoma City, OK., Shawn proudly served his country for 23 years in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He was a veteran of Operation Kuwait Freedom, where he worked as a mechanic among having many other military accomplishments. He was known for always lending a hand to those in need. In addition to his military service, Shawn was also a firefighter and worked with EMS.
Shawn was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He cherished time spent with his family and lived life to the fullest. He loved bull riding, beach trips, hunting, fishing, and grilling—anything that brought him outdoors. A skilled woodworker, he had recently taken up stained glass as a hobby.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mike Simmons.
Shawn is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Catherine Simmons; his children, Toby Simmons, Cody Simmons, Lillian Natal and fiancé Trevor Everitte, and Darian Slade; his mother, Donna Kadrich (Doug); stepmother, Penny Simmons; sister Tisha Simmons; brothers Jorge Simmons, Steven Simmons, and Michael Simmons; and Grandmother Martha Summar.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, N.C. 28301. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel, with military honors.
