Sheila Yolinda Kirkley was born on May 18, 1961, to the late Floyd Peters and Josephine Brown. She gained her wings on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, following a brief illness.
Sheila attended Jacksonville High School and upon graduating she enlisted in the U.S. Army, where she reached the highest enlisted rank of E-7, Sergeant First Class, She loved the military and the adventures it gave her. A short time after retiring she moved to Fayetteville, NC and quickly became a pillar of the community. She served as the Neighborhood Watch Commander and she loved our community and its people. She never met a stranger.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her beloved son Richard Mott, Jr. Siblings: Lolita Peters of Jacksonville, NC, Gloria Graham (Dennis) of Atlanta, GA. Becky Williams and Rickie Newsome (Ernetta) both of Jacksonville, NC., Sheree Newsome of Charlotte, NC, Mickey Newsome and Dennis Newsome (Nerissa) both of Jacksonville, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 12 noon at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
