Sidney Ray Bullard, 69, of Stedman, NC, passed away on January 13, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center due to Covid-19.
Ray was born April 1, 1951 in Cumberland County to the late Sidney Love and Helen Melvin Bullard. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Connor (Jimmy) Bullard and sister, Linda Fay Bullard Dietrich. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kay Blake Bullard; son, Sidney Collins Bullard and wife, Alison, of Stedman; daughter, Melissa Bullard Glenn and husband, David, of Ocean, NC; three grandsons, Garrett Collins Bullard, Jack Robert Bullard and William David Glenn; sister, Sandra Kay Bullard Rager and husband, Dan, of Rising Sun, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
Ray was a fourth-generation farmer. Early in his career, he was the recipient of the Jaycees Young Farmer of the Year award. He knew the importance of being a good steward of the land and shared his knowledge with future generations. He was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed spending time on the water with friends. Ray was an excellent cook, preparing meals daily for those working on the farm and friends that stopped by to visit.
He was a director of the NC Soybean Producers Association, member of the Cumberland County Livestock Association, faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church and served as a board member of the Stedman Fire Department for many years. His loss will be felt deeply throughout the community.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, a private service will be held at the family farm. There will be no at home or funeral home visitations.
His family requests that memorials be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 5064 Macedonia Church Road, Fayetteville, NC 28312 or Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
