Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CW2) Silas Brown Jr., U.S. Army, Retired, passed away peacefully on Friday, 19th of September, at the age of 82, A dedicated veteran who proudly served his country for 26 years, he was a highly respected soldier, a loving family man, and the life of every room he entered.
CW2 Brown was a decorated Vietnam War veteran, serving with distinction in an airborne capacity. His exemplary service was recognized with numerous awards, including the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Silver Service Star and two Bronze Service Stars.
Beyond his military accolades, he was a father figure to many and a man who earned deep respect as a great leader. He possessed a rare ability to connect with anyone, leaving an impression of warmth, humor, and genuine kindness. He loved his family, sports, friends, and traveling. He was a man of many talents and was not scared of a challenge. He loved his four grandchildren and wished he could spend more time with all of them.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Masako, his two loving children, Samuel and Sylvia and his grandchildren, Mayumi, Skylar, Quincy and Lexiana. He will be profoundly missed, but his legacy of service, leadership, and laughter will endure.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 26, 2025, from 1 to 1:50 PM at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. His funeral service will begin at 2 PM at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM with full military honors.
