Susan Elizabeth Vick died in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on December 5, 2021, at the age of 78. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 16, 1943. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elsie and Wilbur James, and her husband, Thomas (“Tommy”) Marvin Vick III.
Su graduated from Lamar High School in Lamar, Missouri in 1961 and earned a bachelor's degree in Speech and Dramatic Arts, with an emphasis on oral interpretation and theater, from the University of Missouri (Columbia). In 1979, she married Tommy, who served more than 20 years in the Army, and accompanied him on his tours to Germany; Ft. Lee, Virginia; and Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Su joined many local community theaters and starred in productions of The King and I, Agnes of God, and Fiddler on the Roof, in addition to performances in more than 10 other stage productions. Su also has been a member of Cumberland Choral Arts for 30 years – almost since its inception.
Su is survived by her son Stephen Brooks, daughter Maren Brooks, daughter-in-law Carey Jefferson, granddaughter Madeline Brooks, brother Raymond James and sister Carol Koester, as well as nieces, a nephew, a niece-in-law, a nephew-in-law, and grand-nieces and -nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church at 302 Green Street, on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:30pm.
