Suzanne Gantt Edge, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Suzanne was born on February 23, 1945, in Charleston, SC, to the late James Henry and Susan Elizabeth Rearden Gantt.
She was a graduate of Carolina Business College of Columbia, SC, and then Winthrop College in 1967, After graduation she moved back to Columbia where she began working at Fort Jackson as a building inspection Officer. She became involved with and was president of the Beta Sigma Phi young women’s sorority. Suzanne later transferred to Fort Bragg in 1980 and became Chief Housing Officer where she worked as a GS14 until her retirement.
Suzanne went on a” blind date “arranged by one of her office colleagues and it was love at first sight! She and Phil were married on May 2, 1981. The couple enjoyed many travels together and spent much time at Lake Murrey at the Gantt/Edge Lakehouse, trips to the coast and many golf and tennis ventures.
She was active with the Fayetteville Bridge Club, was a lifetime and Adult Girl Scout, and loved animals her entire life. Suzanne was a great steward of everything she was given, especially her time.
She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved sister, Rosemary Gantt Gordan; and many of her fur babies.
Suzanne is survived by her husband of 43 years, Philip “Phil” Everette Edge; daughter, Christina Edge Beard (Tommy); granddaughters, Rachel Elizabeth Beard (Chris) and Sarah Evelyn Benore (Anthony); and great grandson, Drew Thomas Benore; and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 1 to 2 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home followed by a funeral service in the Jernigan-Warren Chapel at 2 pm. Burial will take place on April 1, 2024, at 1:00pm at Woodridge Memorial Park in Lexington, SC.
She has fought the good fight and kept the faith. Now she rests in the arms of Jesus.
