Thomas Louk, 85, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the Valley Hospice House.
Born on October 19, 1939, in Huttonsville, West Virginia, Thomas was the son of the late John Boye Louk and Creola McCullum Louk. He was raised in Beverly, WV, where he attended school before proudly serving his country.
In 1957, Tom enlisted in the United States Army, dedicating 20 years to honorable service. A Special Forces veteran of the Vietnam War, he bravely completed three tours in Vietnam and two tours in Europe, serving in Germany and France. Following his military retirement, he continued his commitment to serving others as a personnel manager with the VA Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Tom was a man of many talents and limitless energy. Known as a "Jack of all trades," he pursued a variety of hands-on work, including home improvement, welding, tile installation, and building accessible bathrooms for VA hospitals. Highly organized and detail-oriented, he had a deep love for documenting memories through photographs and family portfolios. Tom’s generosity and warmth made him a friend to everyone he met—he truly never met a stranger.
Above all, he was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished brother, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and loyal friend. His strength, kindness, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Neal Louk; daughter, Theadora Burkett; stepdaughter, Corina Silva; and his brothers, Marvin Louk, Jack Louk, and Phil Louk.
Left to honor his memory are his beloved wife, Helen Louk; daughter, Teri Jackson; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Garrett Louk; and sister, Lucinda Harmon.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in the Chapel at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. Interment will follow at the cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC 28301.
