Thomas “Tom” Bernard McNally, a devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 87. A native and proud New Yorker, Tom earned his undergraduate and law degrees from St. John’s University and was admitted to the New York State Bar. After initially joining a private law firm, Tom went on to serve with high distinction as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for over 30 years.
Tom’s sharp intellect, unwavering respect for the law, and Bronx humor earned him the respect of all who met him. After retiring from the job that was his life passion, he taught law for over 20 years at Methodist University. He remained active with the FBI by faithfully serving as a Special Investigator for many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jeanne. He is also survived by his five children—Kathleen of New York City, Eileen (Steven), Jean Marie (Mike), and Mary (Will) all of Fayetteville, NC and John (Gina) of Frisco, TX; nine grandchildren (Connor, Caroline, Jack, Blake, Brady, Austin, Daisy, Maggie, and Molly, and one great-grandchild (Hayden), each of whom he loved dearly and inspired with his quiet strength and wisdom.
Tom’s legacy lives on in the values he lived by and taught, reflective of the FBI motto of Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Former Agents of the FBI Foundation, 3717 Settler Park Drive, Dumfries, VA 22025. www.socxfbi.org/foundation
