Timothy Shankweiler, 76, of Fayetteville NC, formerly of Greentown, PA., went to heaven on January 26, 2026.
Tim was born in Allentown, PA. in 1949, to Charles and Ruth Shankweiler. After graduating from Dieruff High School, he went into the United States Air Force where he was a police officer. During his military career, Tim served in both Japan and Vietnam. In Allentown, PA., Tim worked for Clark Transfer moving around musical groups, ballets, and broadway shows. Upon relocating to Greentown, he worked for the Tobyhanna Army Depot and owned his own chimney sweep business. He then transferred to EcoLab from which he retired in 2011. Tim loved reading his kindle, reading history books, and doing word searches. He also enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. He was a very caring and loving person who left an everlasting impression on everyone he met.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth Shankweiler and his grandson, PFC Derek DeGroat.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Karen Shankweiler; brother, Ralph Shankweiler and his wife Kathy; daughters, Shiela Shankweiler, Paulette Wilmot and husband Tom, and Tara Shankweiler; grandchildren, Dustin, Breeanna, Bethany, Emily, Olivia, Walter, Timmy, and Emma; great grandchildren, Alexander, Kaelynne, Mathew, Lila, Derek, Matianna, Lucille, De’Andre, and De’Jante; and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the ICU 7th floor doctors and nurses at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, the 5th floor cardiac ICU cardiology, Dr. Mazek and team and nurses at Cape Fear Valley, his VA primary doctor, Dr. Dant and the nurses, and his VA cardiologist, Dr. Okoafor and team.
Visitation: Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 12 to 1pm at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church
Funeral: Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 1pm in Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church
