Troy Christopher Dempster, 43, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Wake Medical Center from injuries in an automobile accident.
Troy was born February 6, 1978 in Fayetteville and was a 1996 graduate of Pine Forest High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from UNC Pembroke, his Master of Arts degree from the University of Tennessee, and was a dissertation away from having his Ph. D from the University of Tennessee. He taught while a student at UT, and was a Professor of History at Coastal Carolina University. Troy was currently employed as an Administrator and Counselor with Integrated Behavioral Health Services (IBHS).
He is survived by his wife, Tara Bass Dempster; 3 sons, Christian Alexander Dempster, Liam Cole Dempster and Asher Pfyn Dempster; father, Thomas Christy “Chris” Dempster and wife, Ann; mother, Carol Ann Hinton; sisters, Lauren Dempster and Sarah Dempster; brother, Dalton Morris; and maternal grandmother, “Oma” Katie.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas C. and Dorothy K. Dempster and maternal grandfather, Graham Hunter.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 4 pm in the Jernigan-Warren Chapel. Masks and social distancing will be required. A livestream of the service may be viewed at the following link. www.facebook.com/jerniganwarren
