Vance Lendo Barrett

Vance “Bud” Lendo Barrett, 88, of Fayetteville passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

Bud was born on January 14, 1937, in Cumberland County to the late Archie Harrison Barrett, Sr. and Nellie Elizabeth Page Barrett.

While in high school Bud started working with typewriters for Mr. Spooner down on Hay Street at the Typewriter Shop. After graduating from Massey Hill High School, he went to work with Bragg Office Supply Co. That job opened the door for the typewriter position with Ft. Bragg Civil Service, where he worked many years before retiring.

Bud enjoyed watching baseball, especially when his favorite team, the Boston Red Sox, were playing.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rose Barrett; siblings, Charlotte Ann Barrett, Russell Barrett, Donald Barrett, Helen B. Guy, Archie Harrison Barrett, Jr., Bennie Lou Barrett Stephens, Sammie Barrett, and Judy Barrett

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Barrett Nodine; many nieces, nephews, and his fur baby, Bessie.

The family will receive friends  from 12:30 to 1:30 on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, with a joint service for him and his sister Judy begining at 1:30 p.m.  Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.
