Virginia Riley Coker, age 87, died peacefully in her home on November 18th, 2022. Born November 4th, 1935, Virginia created a loving home with her husband Bill for their two kids, Kel and Billy. She loved and cherished her two grandchildren, Brooke and Liam. Virginia was a fierce and loyal friend, always ready to listen and give advice to those who sought it, and many did. Though she lost her husband Bill far too early, she found a new lease on life, traveling by plane for the first time in her 60s to Hawaii and Las Vegas, and getting her passport for the first time in her 80s to travel to Ireland. Ask any friend of Virginia’s and you’ll know that her generosity knew no bounds. Her final act of giving was to donate her remains to science for the study of congestive heart failure and COPD.
Virginia is survived by her son and his wife, Bill and Kelly Coker, and her grandchildren, Brooke Betancourt and Liam Coker.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
