Virginia (Dail) McMillan

Mrs. Virginia D. McMillan, 91, of Wade passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Friday, May 7, 2021 following an extended illness.

Vallie as she was affectionately known, was born Valentine's Day, 1930 in Cumberland County to the late William H. and Cora Ellen Dail.

She graduated from Central High School in 1948 and worked for 35 years and retired from Carolina Telephone and Telegraph.

She was a lifelong member of McMillan Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Women of The Church. She loved cooking for her family and tending her garden.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. McMillan; 5 brothers, Reuben, Duvall, James, Auspy and Curtis Dail; and three sisters, Kathleen Dail, Mildred Thompkins, and Helen Dew.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) McMillan; one sister, Lauretta D. McMillan; sister-in-law, Jacqueline N. Dail; and many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, May 10, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Old Bluff Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to McMillan Presbyterian Church, 4147 Goldsboro Road, Wade, N.C. 28395 or Old Bluff Presbyterian Church Trust Fund, P.O Box 96, Wade, N.C. 28395.

The family wishes to express their thanks to Stephanie, Daisey, Brittany, Rita, Michelle, Vadisha, Heather, Pastor Jernigan, and the many other 3HC staff members who provided care during her illness.
