Wanda Louise (Royal) McMillan

Mrs. Wanda Louise Royal McMillan, 92, of Wade, NC, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

Wanda was a devout Christian and had a servant’s heart evidenced in her help of others throughout the community her entire life.  She was a lifelong member of Bethany Methodist Church where she served in many, many roles.

Wanda retired from District #7 Elementary School where she touched the lives of countless children over her twenty years of service.  She was recognized as the Cumberland County Schools Teacher Assistant of the Year for 1993-1994.

Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, William James McMillan, Jr.; parents, Bertie Blake and Langford Paul Royal; brothers, Paul Royal and David Royal; sisters, Maxine Warren, Juanita Horne, Loydlovella Shaw, and Patsy Royal; and grandson, Billy Ray McCormick.

She is survived by daughters, Wanda Gail Faircloth (Robert), Debbie Louise Welch (Bill); son, William James McMillan III (Rhonda); sister, Corenna Cain (Boyd); grandchildren, Tori Vitt, Shawn McCormick, Alyssa McMillan, and Blake McMillan; great grandchildren, Hayden Vitt, Elijah Vitt, Grayson Vitt, Sadie Vitt, and Reid Norris; and a large extended family with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 1 to 2 pm at Bethany Crossroads Church followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
