William Hugh Cherry

William (Bill) Hugh Cherry, 92, of Fayetteville went home to be with his   Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Belva, his daughter’s Vickie Dalton and Valerie Mastalski (Mark); four grandchildren, Jamie Ellis (Erik); Jordan Dalton, Allison Feldman (Isaac); Taylor Strang; four great-grandchildren, Cierra Falzo (Jacob); Brandt Ellis, Hayden Ellis, Carter Moore and brother Harold Cherry.

Bill was drafted into the Army in 1954 and served 21 years with 2 tours in Vietnam. Following his military service, he was employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital as a  Supply Warehouse Supervisor for 20 years. After his retirement, Bill became an entrepreneur opening his own home improvement business locally. Bill loved to see things grow, always planting flowers, tending to his vegetable garden, and working in his yard. Bill’s life was full, he savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 2:00 at Cedar Falls Baptist Church, 6181 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC, where he was a long-time member. Pastor Glenn Meadows and Reverend Floyd Benfield will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
