William Joel "Joe" Wiggs, Sr.

William Joel "Joe" Wiggs, Sr., 89 of Fayetteville, died Sunday, December 23, 2018 at his residence.

Joe was the business manager for the Cape Fear Pilots Association and served with the U.S. Airforce where he was a part of the Strategic Air Command in Sacramento, CA. He was the youngest appointed Bank Director in the state of Ga. in the 1960’s. He was an avid pilot and loved flying his T34 and other planes. He loved the Civil Air Patrol where he flew the P52.  Joe was an avid golfer and made two holes-in-one during his life time.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel, burial will follow in Cross Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Friday prior to the service at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his son, William “Bill” Joel Wiggs, Jr., 58, of Charlotte, who died April 10, 2018; and by his daughter, Lou Anne Hoy.

Surviving are his daughter, Jane Kilpatrick; grandchildren, Leaf Hoy, Mary Huffman; great grandchildren, Emily Palm and Aurelia Hoy.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cape Fear Hospice.
