William “Billy” Malcolm Clark, Jr., age 94, passed away on April 20, 2020 at his home. Born April 16, 1926 in Cumberland County, he was a retired electrical contractor and lifelong Fayetteville resident.
He married Jean Baxley of Raeford, NC on January 25, 1953. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2017 after 63 years of marriage.
Billy was in the United States Navy during World War II, proudly serving from November 30, 1944 to July 4, 1946.
He is survived by his four daughters, Susan Klopfenstein and her husband Thomas of South Bend, IN, Beth Landis and husband Charles of Cornelius, NC, Laurie Edwards and husband Jim of Fayetteville and Amy Harrison and husband Walter of Brentwood, TN. He is survived by his seven grandchildren, Zachary Howell, Morgan Howell, Joshua Howell, Emily Gilbertson, Drew Comer, Thomas Klopfenstein and Olivia Klopfenstein. He is also survived by his five great grandchildren, Liam, Eleanor, Auden, Elizabeth Jean and Clark. A sister, Mildred “Mittie” Mallonee, from Philadelphia, PA also survives him.
Billy was a lifelong member of Camp Ground United Methodist Church, having joined the church in 1936, at the age of 10.
He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his harvest with others.
The family wishes to thank Eileen DeBruhl and Jacquie Winbush for the devoted care given to Mr Clark. The family is grateful for the many years of care provided by Dr. Toni Meeks. The family is also grateful to the staff of Cape Fear Valley Hospice.
A graveside service following current social distancing guidelines will be held on Friday, April 24, 2020 at 2pm at the Camp Ground United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Sang Park and Pastor John Blackwell will officiate.
