Yolanda Sthella (Rodriguez) Paniagua

Mrs. Yolanda Sthella Rodriguez Paniagua, 78, of Fayetteville, NC, died Friday, June 28, 2024, at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Liberty, NC. surrounded by loving family.

Yolanda was born March 13, 1946, in Colombia, South America, to the late Manuel Antonio Rodriguez and Agueda Isabel Rodriguez.     

Yolanda is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 60 blessed years, Serafin “Tony” Paniagua; daughter, Nelkis Paniagua Travis and husband Mark of Southport, NC; grandchildren, Robert Travis of Dallas, TX and Ashley Travis of Charlotte, NC; and siblings, Manuel Rodriguez, Cesar Rodriguez, Miguel Rodriguez, Marcos Rodriguez, Armando Rodriguez, and Jose Ramon Rodriguez. 

Yolanda was preceded in death by siblings, Fanny Rodriguez and Luis de la Rosa.

Yolanda was not only endeared to her homeland of Colombia but prided herself on being a wife to an U.S. Army Veteran and in supporting her husband Tony, in his military and diplomatic career.

Yolanda’s immediate and extended family was the most important part of her life story.  She will be long remembered for her devotion and deep love for Tony, her daughter Nelkis, her grandkids who knew her as “Nana”, and her extended family of siblings, in-laws, nephews and nieces, whom she was like a mother and grandmother.  She never met a stranger and there was always an open door at her home, especially for birthdays, and the holidays.  Cooking big meals for everyone, was one way of showing her love to others.  She will be remembered by everyone for her kindness and love for others.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Chapel.
